Moms Who Work Vs Moms Who Stay At Home

Moms of all different types will do good and bad jobs at bringing up their kids, the media is so fast to judge and criticise these women however. It is always important to remember that these women often have no choice in what they do once the baby is born.

There might be a mom who has no or very little income, she finds out she is having a baby, the father leaves her with no support or money and she will have to go out to work as soon as she’s recovered from the birth. Some people may think her cruel or harsh but in reality she has had no choice otherwise she and her baby will have nothing to eat and no roof over their heads.

Alternatively a mom who is financially stable may give up work and stay at home all day, even when the kids are of an age where they are at school all day. Some people call these types of moms lazy but if dad has a good job making up stock trading strategies and their household income is high then she is technically doing nothing wrong at all but people are often very quick to judge others, especially when it comes to parenting.

Moms are looking more and more at making money from a home income opportunity. These moms will be able to do both things the moms above are doing, they can work but at the same time they can be at home and have the flexibility that so many moms would love to have. But even these moms can come under fire as they often work when the kids are around and many frown on this.

So for moms it is hard to know exactly what to do, studies and research show pros and cons for all these situations but at the end of the day a mom knows what is going to be best for her children. As we saw before in the examples at the beginning some people have no choice in what they have to do when they have kids, some even make money online.

When you have a child or more there should be only 1 priority and that is that your child is happy, secure, cared for and is loved. None of those things can be bought with money alone but you also have to understand that a lot of articles and studies come from people who have never been poor and some from people who have never had kids!

Moms need to unite and know that they make choices for their families, not for other people and not to fit into society. As human beings we have primitive instincts on how to look after our young and bring them into the world as best we can.

The Downside to Working from Home

More and more individuals are working from home whether they work for themselves or a company. However, many people jump on the Wahm bandwagon without considering all of the drawbacks to working at home. While some people are naturally inclined to have stay at home jobs, others find the transition more difficult to make. There are a lot of benefits to working at home, but the drawbacks need to be considered before you make the choice.

The first drawback to looking for work from home careers is that your current career may not easily transfer to a work at home situation. If you work in the medical field or are a police officer, being a Wahm might not be an easy transition unless you are willing to change careers entirely. Sales and administrative positions transfer well, as do creative jobs like design and writing. For those in jobs that can’t make the work at home switch, you’ll have to think carefully about what you want to do when start working at home and start investigating that field.

Cost is another important factor in deciding if working at home is right for you. Although many mothers start working at home to save on childcare, there are added costs to being a Wahm. If you need health insurance, it will have to come out of your pocket instead of being paid by your employers. There are also lots of taxes that you will have to pay. Your record keeping must be excellent in order to keep track of your income and expenses, and to fill out your income tax return at the end of the year.

Working at home with children is not always as easy as it seems. If you have young children that aren’t in school yet, it may be difficult to work when they are awake. This can mean lots of busy naptimes and late nights to get your projects done when they are sleeping. Family members can help take care of your children from time to time, but the responsibility of both your children and your job will be firmly in your hands. With older children, it is sometimes easier to work from home. But you will still have to start and maintain a fairly balanced schedule in order to get everything done.

Wahms have to be very self-motivated and disciplined in order to get their work done on time and correctly. If you are the type of person that is motivated by outside factors (such as a supervisor), then working at home may not be your cup of tea. When you have a work at home employment, there is no one there to look over your shoulder and make sure that you are still working. Distractions like the television, Internet and housework can be hindrances to your work at home success.

Isolation is another problem for Wahms. Working at home alone can get frustrating and lonely. Make certain you are comfortable with spending time alone, and that you acquire steps to combat separation. If you are especially prone to being depressed, then the isolation that comes with working at home may make you feel withdrawn and sad. Taking steps to combat loneliness is an important part of any Wahm’s success.

After considering these factors, you may decide that working at home is not right for you. In spite of this, a lot of people deal with these drawbacks and still have lucrative work at home careers. These reasons should not stop you from becoming a Wahm if that is really what you want to do. Be realistic and  you have to be even more disciplined if you work from home and not let what is going on around you be a distraction.
